On
the 29th January 2016 we gave presentations about the media in the
English speaking countries.
In the first
presentation Jola, Martyna and Sylwia told us how Princess Diana’s death has
been presented in different media.
At first
they focused on television which showed people’s reactions and facts just after
the tragedy. The girls presented us one of the ‘’Breaking news’’ right after
the car crash.
Then, the
group analyzed the ways the newspapers wrote about Princess’s Death. They took
daily newspapers, magazines and tabloids to show the differences in covering
the tragedy.
Finally, the
girls mentioned the radio and the song ‘’Candle in the wind”. The girls showed how
Diana’s death captured the media’s attention and they made us aware of the huge
impact of the media on our lives.
The second
presentation was prepared by Anna, Monica and David.
They were talking about
the most popular American cooking shows: “Masterchef Junior”, “Masterchef”, “Kitchen
Nightmares”.
They presented a lot of curiosities about a popular
restaurateur : Gordon Ramsay. A magnificent graphic design of the presentation
and amusing jokes made us really interested in it. Now
we are looking forward to the first Polish edition of “Masterchef junior”.
The next presentation
prepared by Monica, Sylwia and Alexandra regarded talk shows broadcast on
British and American TV.
At the beginning we had an opportunity to get to know the
short history of this kind of programs. Later we could also discover the
differences between morning and afternoon talk shows.
Then, the girls told us about a show titled “Meet the
Press”, which is the first chat show on American TV and has been broadcast
since 1947.
At the end, the girls presented us 10 reasons why people
watch talk shows and mentioned the talkshows’ huge impact on our lives.
Olivia, Ania and Radek
prepared for us a presentation in which there was short information about the
most famous game shows in the UK. They told us about e.g.: “One to Fifteen”, “The
Cube”.
What
was interesting and surprising was the fact in Poland we have game shows mostly
based on the UK ones.
Last
but not least were Amanda, Michalina and Paulina. The girls informed us that
fashion blogs are blogs that cover the fashion industry, clothing and personal
style. Fashion blogs first appeared in the blogosphere prior to 2002. We can
call them also “Shopping blogs” because most of the conversation is shopping
advice, liberally laced with consumer recommendation. We also learned that a
lot of shops have their own blogs like a “PullTheMetal” which is a blog one of
the famous shop: Pull&Bear.
One of the most famous blogs are: Man Rapeller, Atlantic Pacific and Nadia Aboulhson.
A lot of bloggers have their account on the Instagram where they can earn from 5000 to 15000 dollars for one post!
On Facebook, they inform they fans about the latest events from they lives.
On Youtube they add a lot of videos like: lookbook, DIY, Q&A, Room Tour, what i ate today, Vlogs, Try On Haul, Get ready with Me etc.
The last part of the presentation showed a famous TV-programme about Fashion bloggers from Australia. The TV-program shows a real life of those

girls,
their everyday work at the fashion industry, blog and social media.
We
realized that the English speaking media
are pretty similar to Polish once. We live in a global village.
