Story of Przemek Cwynar

Monday 12 September 2016

It’s a sunny, September day. A large hall in a one of Rzeszów secondary school chock-full with the teenagers waiting for a meeting with a traveller. After five minutes, he eventually appears on the stage. No one supposes, that he has crossed few seas and rivers on his raft made of the toilet doors.
Przemek Cwynar, who is that unusual guy, comes from Albigowa- a village outlying about 20 km from Rzeszów. He is  a graduate of music on University in Rzeszów, but, currently he works as a welder and  a carpenter. As he says, he has been always keen on travelling- on foot, by bike or  hitch-hiking- it doesn’t matter. In 2012, Przemek finally fulfilled the dream he had of floating to the Baltic sea on the toilet doors- „I travelled 870 km in 26 days, swimming through 3 rivers: Wisłok, San and Wisła. Sometimes, I had to row approximately 15 hours per day.” The information of Przemek’s journey was immediately spread in the media, and, because of that, there were many people waiting for him on his ports of call.
Encouraged by the success of the first journey, Przemek started planning the next one- that time  the destination was the Black Sea. To set off on such a long expedition, he had to collect more money, which was possible due to the crowfunding website polakpotrafi.pl. During the journey, the man had to struggle with problems connected with crossing the borders, but, fortunately, Przemek ended his travel successfully.
One year later, in 2014, young traveler crossed road from the sources of the River Thames to London. “I’ve chosen that well-known area as I wanted to focus on understanding  a new culture and people. Once I was looking for  a shelter from the storm I met a man, who offered me to marry his daughter on that day”.
At the turn of  the years 2015 and 2016 , the guy moved one step forward and went to India to sail along the Ganges, which appeared to be the most successful expedition and fulfillment of his dreams.
Przemek Cwynar admits, that he would  show all the teenagers, that you don’t have to be rich to explore new, remote places. His example shows, that sometimes the toilet doors can inspire you to get up the couch and hit the world.

No gluten?

No gluten, no meat - so what can we eat?
More and more people start a gluten-free diet or a plant-based diet, like vegetarianism or veganism. It is getting popular especially among teenagers. Of course, veganism or vegetarianism has been known for many years, but nowadays, these diets have become a commonplace.
It is not surprising, when somebody says that he or she does not eat meat or products of animal origin. A lot of people stop eating products which are made from wheat, rye, barley- products which contain gluten. Obviously, this diet gives us a lot of benefits, but does everyone follow it in order to stay healthy?
Many teenagers started these diets because their idols had done this before. They are promoting a new lifestyle, where "normal food" disappears, because "we can eat only organic food, which is not combined with animals in any way". If they are famous YouTubers or bloggers, they write articles about their eating habits. On YouTube, we can find thousands of videos like " what I eat in a day-vegan", "Vegan food book", gluten-free recipes" etc. To be honest, now it easier to find here a recipe for vegetarians or vegans than for a person who eats everything. What’s more, in shops there are more and more products for people following these diets, which shows that there is a higher demand for such a way on nutrition.
We can say that being on these diets has become fashionable. But whether should fashion dictate what we eat?

You'll never get a second chance to make a first impression

People create their opinion about school in different ways, some of them are searching information’s in an online school page, some of them confirm themselves by studying school’s brochure, but no matter how much time you will spent on this, nothing can be compared to experience that you gain during open days which took place in our school on 28th of April this year.
Andrew Szymanek, the headmaster agrees: ,,This event in our school was very enjoyable. Everywhere I was seeing smiled faces of future high school students. I need to approve organizers; this was a great way to show our school in positive light”
The students arranged many different activities for younger friends. Every class was demonstrating the type of learning that they choose. Sounds boring? Mary Smith said: ,,The tutors and students I spoke were unbelievably inspiring, friendly and I would be honored to study in such outstanding community!”.
Many interested students came to see what our high school has to offer. Dancing classes, cookies made by our learners and chemical experiments was enjoying most of interest. Everyone was overwhelmed by unique and unforgettable atmosphere. Guests talked with us gladly, asked many questions. No one was boring.
A lot of pictures were taken that day. One of our students made short film showing what was happening. We remember when two years ago we crossed the threshold of school and we felt the same - very excited and joyful. We were impressed by the environment. In September we will see how many people fall in love at the first sight in our high school.
