No gluten, no meat - so what can we eat?
More and more people start a gluten-free diet or a plant-based diet,
like vegetarianism or veganism. It is getting popular especially
among teenagers. Of course, veganism or vegetarianism has been known for many
years, but nowadays, these diets have become a commonplace.
It is not surprising, when somebody says that he or she does not eat meat
or products of animal origin. A lot of people stop eating products which
are made from wheat, rye, barley- products which contain gluten. Obviously,
this diet gives us a lot of benefits, but does everyone follow it in order to
stay healthy?
Many teenagers started these diets because their idols had done this before.
They are promoting a new lifestyle, where "normal food" disappears,
because "we can eat only organic food, which is not combined with animals
in any way". If they are famous YouTubers or bloggers, they write articles
about their eating habits. On YouTube, we can find thousands of videos like
" what I eat in a day-vegan", "Vegan food book", gluten-free
recipes" etc. To be honest, now it easier to find here a recipe for vegetarians
or vegans than for a person who eats everything. What’s more, in shops there are
more and more products for people following these diets, which shows that there
is a higher demand for such a way on nutrition.
We can say that being on these diets has become fashionable. But whether
should fashion dictate what we eat?
